The Boeing 727-200 was introduced in 1967 as a 20-foot longer version of the earlier Boeing 727-100 to accommodate more passengers, a greater payload and a slightly longer flying distance. Mainly used for domestic flights, the Boeing 727-200 is a narrow-body airliner that was developed to address the demand for smaller aircraft for use on relatively short flights from smaller airports. Boeing ended production of the 727 series in September 1984, having built a total of 1,832 planes.
